Review / Notes: Old school metaller’s with a glam edge akin to the very early days of Motley Crue, Gothenburg four piece Sister Sin have been kicking around the scene for the best part of a decade now. Their independently released full length debut ‘Dance Of The Wicked’ first saw the light of day as long ago as 2003, but it was probably 2008’s sophomore outing ‘Switchblade Serenade’ that really brought them into focus as far as the world wide metal markets were concerned. Perfectly poised to capitalise on the upsurge in fortunes the scene is currently enjoying thanks to the likes of Wig Wam, Reckless Love, Crashdiet and Crazy Lixx (to name but four), ‘True Sound Of The Underground’ builds on the promise shown by its predecessor and delivers the much needed kick in the balls the European markets need right now. If you haven’t crossed swords with Sister Sin before, if you can imagine a mixture of Motorhead, Motley Crue and Girlschool, you’ll certainly find yourself in the right ball park. Filled with barbed riffs, pent up aggression, gutsy angst and snarling vocals (vocalist Liv is one of the best I’ve heard this side of Halestorm’s Lzzy Hale), there’s a decidedly old school of hard knocks charm to vitriolic anthems such as ‘The Devil I Know’, ‘Outrage’, ‘Sound Of The Underground’ and ‘Heading For Hell’, a charm that should reignite the fires in the bellies of an old (as well as brand new) generation. No fuss, no pretence, just riffy, balls to the wall metal filled with passion and anguish ... and just when you thought they didn’t make ‘em like this anymore! (D.Cockett)
